Bass Wood

Bass WoodBasswood's Heart wood and sapwood do not have clearly defined sections, both being pale white and light brown in color. This a non durable wood in regards to decay. The grain s often straight, with a fine even texture. Workability The most suitable wood for hand carving, due to how soft and light the wood is. It glues and finishes well. It is not recommend to be used for steam bending or nailing, as it has poor characteristics for both Common Uses

Heartwood is a light brown or cream color with dark blackish brown streaks vaguely resembling a zebra’s stripes

but can be very difficult to plane or surface due to the prevalence of interlocking grain

it is less prone to movement due to changes in humidity compared to some other hardwoods

Bubinga  also known as "African Rosewood" ranges from a pinkish red to a darker reddish brown with darker purple or black streaks

Workability: Fairly easy to work with both hand and machine tools

as the interlocking grain can cause tear outs

With its mostly tan wood with lots of black streaks through out
