Chateau Guiraud Vintage 2001Although the estate predates them it was acquired by the Guiraud family in 1766. It was classified as Premier Cru in the 1855 classification of Sauternes and is one of the region's most famous wine estates. The 2001 vintage was an excellent one for the sweet wines of Bordeaux with the right conditions for Botrytis to work its magic. It was marked by an early harvest superseding the record vintage of 1893 and also by exceptionally long sunny periods and high temperatures
