It has an inner bodice with button closures and the outer dress has brown buttons down the front that go a little past the waist. The cotton is semi sheer. Sleeves and bodice are lined but the dress itself is not. Wonderful ruffled collar, cuffs, and hem. Can be worn belted or loose, depending on your preference.
