RL Winston Bamboo Fly Rod 8' 2/2 #5An RL Winston bamboo fly rod, 8', 2 piece, 2 tip, and built for what feels to me like a #5. Serial #1524. The rod weighs 3 7 8 ounces. Medium action. San Francisco era model. Fair used condition. The butt and one tip have multiple areas where varnish has been re applied to cover varnish chips and a hook dig (on one of the tips). The butt has an amber varnish overcoat rendering it darker than the tips. The main wraps are light yellow gold with maroon

Correct original and un-filed smooth brass foot

Mohlin's reels are less seen in North America he has a decided following in Scandinavia where his reels are very popular

The reel remains in excellent condition with only slight wear having been fished sparsely

The "Contents" card in the lid is slightly stained and remains free of writing

No significant end play or wobble

The reel is 2 3/4" in diameter with a spool width of 9/16" of an inch
